First time together at our new house!

Yesterday we loaded up in our new car and my parents and brother loaded up in theirs and we all headed off to check out the progress of the new house. This was Aaron and the boys' first time to see the house. Plus it was our first trip in our new car! We were all soooooo excited.
We pulled up at the house to see this...
Yep streamers and all!!! They were still cleaning, doing a few touch ups to the paint, and the guy was finishing the deck so everything was almost done! We walked into the house and saw this...I LOVE IT!!!!! The floors turned out perfect. I couldn't have dreamed of it being any better. I LOVE the paint color. Everything just fell right into the place! One thing that ended up being perfect which I didn't even plan was the cabinets match the color of the hardwood floors. I guess I just really like that shade of wood!!!! The kitchen was perfect. I'm so happy with the appliances. There is more counter space to the right of this picture and the pantry is over there. I can't wait to see my new fridge...which is in route...in it's little cubby. This is what you see as you walk up the stairs. And here is my mom standing in the hallway next to the boys' room. She was looking down another hallway that leads into the playroom where the boys are going crazy.
This is Aaron and I together in our new master bedroom for the first time! Here you can see the master ceiling as well.I was a little worried about the dark cabinets in the bathrooms. I didn't want the room to be too dark and look closed in. I was sooooo excited about how good the cabinets look against the counter tops. The counter tops have some gray in them so it tied the paint in too. Perfect!!! This is the vanity in mine and Aaron's master bathroom. The boys went crazy running around the house. They ran and screamed the whole time we were there. They loved it. Logan was so excited to see his room. They were even tackling each other in the playroom. I don't know why I don't have pictures of them running wild...probably because they would have shown up as a blur! We headed outside and checked out the new deck.Aaron got to check out the property line. He says the backyard is his favorite part of the house. The boys have so much room in and out of the house. Way more than we have EVER had! Here is PaPaw and Logan checking out the woods at the end of our property line.I had to zoom on the camera so that you could see them good...I'm telling you, the backyard is pretty big!!!! We headed off to Olive Garden for dinner afterwards. I've missed that place so much!!!! It was delicious! The drive back to mom's was long thanks to Nashville traffic but oh well. We had a great trip and I'm so glad my parents got to share it with us. Now, I just can't wait to move in!!!!! Next week we should close and the house will be ALL ours!!!!!

My new car!!!

Sunday was our relax day. We lazed around in the morning and then headed out to do some looking around. The boys did a little shopping and we ladies and Lane looked around a few car lots and some furniture shops. Mine and Aaron's plan this whole time was to buy a car once we got here. We knew we wanted a car because we wanted something good on gas and we plan to do some traveling now that we are close to family. Plus we still have the Durango which is on it's way here. So on Monday Aaron and I took off to Decatur to look around. And there it was. I've wanted an Altima this color for YEARS! I love these cars. Actually it's the only CAR that I would be willing to drive. If I had anything else I would want an SUV. This car was meant for me I know it. It had everything I wanted down to the color. I'm soooo excited. It even has a sunroof...which was actually my main criteria!!! Yes I know, probably not the best way to select a car...but I've missed having one...and desperately wanted one!!!!I think Logan is more excited about the car than I am. He keeps asking me for the keys! I'm in big trouble when he gets 16!!!!

We made it

So I'm very behind on the blog. Things have been busy since we arrived in Bama. The trip went well but it was super long. 18 hours to be exact. Our longest flight was 3 1/2 hours but we had some long layovers. The boys did great. Of course they had their moments but overall they did awesome. We took off at 5pm on Friday and arrived in Bama at 2:02 pm on Saturday. Mom snapped this picture as soon as we got close to her!!!
We were so excited. We had to travel with so much stuff!!! All this stuff plus 6 bags of luggage! By the time we got to Seattle...which was our second stop...it was 1AM...the boys had not slept. Lane was refusing pictures at this point! We tried and tried to get them to rest but they both refused. Finally I got Lane to settle down but Logan stayed up and watched a movie and kept Aaron awake the whole 4 hours we were there. Finally we left there and the next stop was Denver. The boys slept on our way there. Thankfully! The layover there was not that bad and then Lane rested a little more from Denver to Huntsville. Logan was just excited the whole way.
Lane made sure to read the safety manual before take off!!!

Upon arrival my parents and brother were waiting for us and the spoiling of the grandkids started immediately!Logan had asked PaPaw to bring him a piece of bubble gum when he got off the plane...so PaPaw did...plus some...he brought that whole bucket which contains 360 pieces of bubble gum!!! My mom had presents waiting on them too. Everyone was so excited!!!

After loading up ALL our stuff we headed off to my parent's house. Along the way we stopped off for some long awaited Krystals!!! Oh how I have missed having a few krystals and some chili cheese fries!!!!

It feels so good to be south! The smell of the air, the warmth of the sun, the beauty the south has to off is just unmatched! Yes, even compaired to Alaska! This place is just mean for me!

Moving Day 1

Yesterday was day 1 of the move. Oh how excited I was to see that big truck pull up in my driveway. I've admired it sitting in other people's driveway for the last 3 years and each time I would comment, "Oh how I can't wait to see that truck at my house," or "maybe I should go in and tell them they are at the wrong house and send them my way!" But yesterday was FINALLY my day. If no one has ever moved with movers...then you should! It IS the way to go. There is nothing better than getting to set back and relax while all your stuff is boxed up and shipped off for you. Never again will I lift my own couch!!!! **crossing fingers!**

Lots of military families will talk about the awful time they have with their movers. I've been blessed. When we moved here our movers were great. They took extra care and were very friendly. And our stuff made it here with only the knobs on Logan's dresser messed up and a broken printer...which was a cheapo anyway! So no biggie. This time I think we were just as blessed. The guys that showed up yesterday were super nice and friendly. We all cut up and had a good time yesterday. They worked super hard and had my whole house almost completely packed in one day. Yeah, they are good!

The boys were at school all day yesterday. I was leaving to take them when the movers showed up. So it was a major shock to the boys when they walked in and saw nothing but boxes. This is Lane when he walked in the toy room...We tried to take our time getting home. Running to Walmart and eating out...since there is nothing to cook with at the house...but we made it home around 7:30. They were messing with everything. Lane even picked up every curtain rod he could find and held it up to me and said "fight!" We all slept in the same bed last night. I could have left the boys' beds up but we cuddled up and did the family thing last night...our last night in this house!!!!

So now we are on day 2. The movers are working and I'm about to start cleaning.

Ball night!

Last night was our last big event with 5-1 Cav...and my last Saturday in Alaska!!! Wahoo! I should start by saying I LOOOOVVVVE military balls for the same reason I always loved prom. I get to dress up and be pretty! It always takes me all day to get dressed. Well not really but I always allot all day to pampering myself and getting beautiful!! Of course this Saturday I was a little more busy than I would have liked to be because I had to get all our washing done so we would be ready to pack up our clothes for the move! But anywho! I started off by painting my nails and then of course sitting for a while and doing nothing...you have to let them dry you know! I have to say painting your nails with a one year old who wants to help is pretty trying. After I painted my toe nails Lane held up his feet and said "feeeet, feeeet." He wanted his done too! After the drying I headed off to get my hair done. I wasn't quite sure what I wanted. I had thought of putting it all the way up, then I thought half up because my dress was strapless, but I had also thought of doing a side ponytail. So when I got to my AMAZING hairdresser's she and I decided to do the side pony...it was something different and fun! I am going to miss Maggie (my hairdresser) so much. I've never fallen in love with a hairdresser but I have her. She can do things to my hair I never thought possible! It kind of looks braided...but it's not.So after the hair I headed home and did a little more laundry. Then of course I took my sweet time doing my makeup. The sitters, Samantha and Megan, showed up around 4:30. The boys were so excited to have them over. Aaron had to put me in my dress which takes time! The back laces up and then he has to tighten it up just like a corset. I was so in love with this dress from the moment I saw it. It was elegant but still fun with the peak-a-boo green. I actually ordered it off ebay. Aaron would tell everyone that my dress came from China since that is where the seller was. But I ordered the dress and then had to send them my measurement. So the dress was custom made just for me. How exciting. You would have thought I had won the lottery the day I finally got to try it on!!!This was the first ball that Aaron got to wear his Stetson and Spurs to. As I was helping Aaron get on his spurs Logan asked, "Daddy are you going to ride a horse tonight!" We had pictures made at the ball which should be back in about two weeks. I'm interested to see how they turned out. Our hands are posed kind of funny so I hope it looks ok. The photographer was obsessed with my "bling" and wanted to show off all my diamonds...so of course we couldn't leave out the engagement ring! We shall see! LOLThe ball was a blast and a lot less talking than normal. Which was great because that meant more time for mingling and dancing! Aaron isn't much of a dancer...like a lot of the other guys...so us girls enjoyed a fun time on the dance floor. Sad thing was I realized just how old I was getting. I had never heard half the songs they were playing. We all agreed this music was outside our generation! "Stanky leg"....what in the world is that! But oh well we danced away! When one of the songs from "our generation" came on about half the dance floor left...but we sang every word and dance it up! That was the most dancing I had done since before I had kids! It was a blast!!!

Us with the Taylor'sAaron and Matt...his platoon sergeant.
Oh wait..."Tiff, you were not suppose to snap it yet!!!!" --Matt. Haha...caught ya anyway!!! Here they are being a little more classy...take two!Wow...these guys are just too cool for words! Aaron, Boardman, Denny, and PaulThe "gun slingers!"

Kristi, Becky, and IAnd I had to throw this one in...Logan was just being cute this morning. So I'm off to pack up our stuff...we are suitcase living for about the next 30 days!!!!

Moving on

One week from today I will getting on a plane that will take me south...and I don't have to get on a return flight!!!!! A one way flight to the south...the place I love the most!!!! I'm so excited and can not wait to start the next chapter in our lives. Alaska has been an experience to say the least. We have had many good times here and I have met some amazing people. My last day at work was last Wednesday. Saying goodbye to that place was harder than I thought and I'm not sure that it will completely hit me until Monday when I'm not up getting ready for work but getting ready for movers to come in and box up all our stuff.

There is one special lady who I am going to miss horribly. Angela! She has become such a good friend to me. We have shared many talks. She and I are so much alike in so many ways. She has always been there for me even if it was just to let me vent when Aaron was gone. She may not even realize how much she means to me...but I hope she does. Ang, I have to say you are my favorite person in Alaska and quite honestly the only person that I love enough to say that leaving is hard. I've been ready to leave Alaska since 3 days after I got here more than 3 years ago. But Ang, I'm going to miss you so much and I really hope that one day we will see each other again. We have to stay in touch.

So this weekend is going to be busy. Tonight we are having a little get together at a friend's house, tomorrow is the military ball (I can't wait, I get to get dressed up in my gorgeous dress!), and then Sunday we have to make sure everything we need for a month is packed in suitcases because our movers come on Monday to start boxing everything up. So I've got to get busy for now but I will post pictures of the ball as soon as I can on Sunday! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Lane's surgery

Lane had a myringotomy...aka Ear Tube...surgery this morning. My plans were to let him sleep as late as I could and then just pick him up and head out the door before he had a chance to even think about food. This boy loves to eat and he was not allowed to eat after midnight Sunday night. Well Lane had other plans. Aaron got up at 5:30 to get dressed for work. Lane woke up with him. I tried and tried to get him to go back to sleep but it didn't work. I finally started getting dressed at 6:30 and Lane tore apart my bathroom during that time. Once Aaron got home we got Logan up and ready. Logan had already been instructed not to even speak of food. Logan gets fed breakfast at school so he was planning to eat there. All went well and we headed out the door for the hospital on time and without any "food" problems. They had told Lane could bring along a "comfort" toy. So he choose his doggie that he made at Build A Bear when Aaron was home in July for R&R. Once we got to the hospital and got checked in we had to wait. Of course right! Well Lane got into my purse which was holding "after surgery snacks." So he got mad because he couldn't have any "wawa"...water. Finally they called us back and got his mind off that. We got to go back with him for a little bit. They asked us a bunch of questions and had him get in a hospital gown. They gave him the little hospital socks which were huge on him. He does not like to wear socks so he refused to keep them on. He would put them on for a second and then pull them right back off. So we ended up putting them on his doggie. That made him happy.
Once they were ready I carried him down the hall and then had to pass him off. He looked scared but the rest went really fast. His doggie, which he named "NO!" was with him the whole time. Aaron and I walked down to the lobby and got a coffee and when we walked back upstairs I had no more than sat down when the doctor walked out. I thought he was coming to tell me they forgot something but he said they were all done. I'm so serious...I had just left him 10 minutes ago! He said everything went perfect and Lane was doing great. We headed right back to see him. He was still sleeping but all his vitals were perfect. I held the humidified oxygen over his nose and mouth for about 10 minutes and then he rolled and started crying. He still had his eyes closed but was starting to wake up. I leaned down to give him a kiss and he smacked at me and said "no!" He was already back to being himself!!! LOL. He whined for about 10 minutes and then they let me pick him up. He stopped crying right away. We gave him some water and he just cuddled with me. It was so sweet.
Phase two recovery was a breeze for him. He was wide awake and laughing loudly. He was giving high fives and knuckles to the nurses. It was so cute. He stole some gloves and was wearing them around. They all said he was a future doctor! When we got home he ate for about an hour! Then laid down and slept for about 4 hours. The rest of the night has been perfect. He doesn't seem to be in any pain and has been playing around like normal. I'm excited to see how much this helps him. Thank you all for the prayers. I can't thank God enough for taking such good care of him!

I had to share this picture. The boys were playing around Sunday night. They are just too cute.

Logan's first sleep over

Friday night we had some friends over and had a tasty dinner. Everyone had a great time. It was most likely our last dinner party at our house in Alaska. Logan ended up having a friend sleep over. Logan had slept over at Logan's Joshua's house before but Logan has never had anyone sleep over at his house. So this was his first sleep over at home. The boys had a blast. Aaron finally got them to go to bed at 3AM! And then Lane woke us and them up at 8AM. Aaron made the boys pancakes and then they played some more. We all headed out to a hockey game and then we dropped Logan Joshua off at his house. It was a really fun time and Logan felt so grown up. He's getting so big. Here are a few pics of the night.
