So lets see...work, come home, cook dinner...work some more! That's pretty much been my day. The weather ended up being really nice this afternoon. The sun was out, I could hear melted snow dripping...such a great sound! All I wore was a fleece pullover and I was completely comfortable. A sure sign of summer!!! Other than the normal highlight of my day which is having the boys run up to me to give me a hug when I first pick them up, I had two other great things happen today. The greatest one being a phone call from Aaron. I was getting the boys out of the bath and almost missed his call but I grabbed the phone just as the answering machine picked up. Logan was in a really talkative mood and he talked Aaron's ear off. Which Aaron loved because it's rare that Logan will talk to anyone on the phone. He was filling Aaron in on everything. Including that we had to park my car outside last night and this morning we had to dust snow of it! The other highlight of my day was that I cooked dinner...and Logan ate it!!!!! You have no idea how great it is to have someone eat your cooking and tell you it's good. It gets really depressing to constantly get told how horrible your cooking is and have someone flat out refuse to eat it...even when you take all their snacks away! Both of the boys chowed down tonight and both were treated to cookies. They were so excited!

The boys played up stairs while I folded clothes. Logan watched Ben 10 and Lane played in the playroom. He was going through everything and even got into the kitchen stuff. I had almost decided to throw that thing away but I guess one more kiddo will get to enjoy it. Lane has been fighting me lately when I lay him down for bed. He does not want to go to sleep by himself. He got a little spoiled when his collarbone was broken and he was sick. I was having to watch his breathing so I put him in the bed with me...now he's rotten. Tonight he ended up crying but finally went to sleep. I know some people think that is just horrible but he was so tired and would not sit still for me to hold him and I refuse to wrestle my kids when they are tired. They only get more fussy and I just get wore out. It's pointless. Plus, he's never going to get back into the old routine if I don't stand my ground. And I have to admit...it's really nice being able to just lay my kids in their bed, kiss them goodnight, and have them fall asleep. That's really the only way I get any "me" time. I told Aaron that I didn't know how things were going to work when he gets home. Logan is determine that he and Lane will both be sleeping in the bed with Aaron and I. Logan informed his dad tonight that he, Aaron, would be sleeping on his pillow, I, mom, would be sleeping on my pillow and Logan and Lane would share a pillow in the middle. He just has it all figured out!

I do want to say Happy Birthday to our nephew Devon. I hope you had a wonderful day. Aaron tried to call but didn't get anyone. He is going to try to call back but I want you to know that we all love and miss you lots.

Well Logan is falling asleep on the couch and I'm about to find a snack and then heading to bed myself. Goodnight.

Easy Monday

Today ended up being a really slow day at work. Our doctor had an emergency case he had to do at the hospital so we got to head out early. When I finished up with my patient me and two of the girls headed to Chili's to have lunch. Then I went back to work to do a microderm on a patient. After that I had someone do a full mouth series of xrays on me so that I could take them with me to the dentist office on Thursday. I've been having a tooth ache. It's not bad just hurts a little on and off. I took an xray of it last week hoping to just find a small cavity that could be easily fixed. I've only had one cavity my whole life so I really didn't expect it to be anything crazy. Well when I looked at the xray nothing showed up. No cavities, no cracks, nothing weird about the tooth. I even had our doctor look at it and he didn't notice anything wrong with it. So now I'm worried because worse case is that I have a root fracture which means the tooth would have to be pulled...but most of the time root fractures occur in teeth that have fillings and this tooth doesn't. So I'm confused. Hopefully I will get if fixed on Thursday and it will just be a little cavity that didn't show up on the xray! *Crossing my fingers*

When I left work I ran to the store and picked up diapers and then grabbed Logan. When I pulled in at home the garage door would not open. So I go in to open it from the inside thinking that the battery on the opener is dead but nothing. The door doesn't budge! Thankfully it's not below zero tonight so my car won't be too mad at me for making it sit out in the cold...but it's still aggravating. They are suppose to come out tomorrow to fix it. The garbage disposal stopped working yesterday too so I guess if somethings going to break it might as well do it all in one maintenance call!

The boys had a present from Grammy and Papaw waiting for them. Logan was excited about his Ben 10 and Star Wars stuff. Lane was excited about the cars. They both got musical cards that they were dancing too. It was so cute. After dinner they enjoyed the cookies that they got. Those little boys were bottomless pits. Lane ate so much. He ate more pasta than Logan did.

Well I'm off to get ready for bed. Off to work hard tomorrow!

My boots

I've been snapping pictures of the boys all afternoon. They were just being cute and then they started fighting. I can't help myself but laugh at them when they start fighting. I thought they were too young to be fighting already...I thought Lane would at least be able to talk before it started! Here they are fighting over this toy car...Aaron knows how obsessive Logan is over his cars but he laid it down and turned his back on it so Lane grabbed it and started playing with it. When Logan realized it...the fight began. Of course Logan got the car but Lane was extremely upset. And since Logan literally pulled the car out of Lane's hand I made him give it back. I showed Logan that all he needed to do if he wanted THAT car was to get Lane another and ask him to switch. So Logan did and of course Lane switched cars with him. Boys!
Lane was holding on tight...they were both determine!
Logan was prying Lane's fingers off! Poor Lane was screaming. So after they made up all was well. Here are a few picture of them just playing around and being cute.
Lane wanted to play cars with Logan...but Logan didn't want him to. Lane kept putting his hand up to play and Logan was pushing his hand away...Lane was laughing and Logan was getting mad!I finally got him to smile for the camera. He never wants to take a picture for me!
These boys ate crackers all night! I gave Lane a bowl of crackers and he just sat right down until they were all gone. I just thought he looked to cute!So I know that Aaron is going to get me for these last pictures but I just can't help but share. As I was picking up the house I pulled out my new boots just to check them out again before I put them away. Well Logan wanted to put a pair on too. At first I told him no just because I didn't want my new boots to end up messed up but he kept on and on so finally I said fine. He put them on and was walking around in them. He actually walked really well in them! He wore them for about 20 minutes and then told me he was tired of them. It was just to funny. (For what ever reason I can't get these pictures to turn the right way. Sorry!)
You have to admit these boots are hot! I normally don't care for the ankle boots but something about these just screamed "Tiffany" as I walked by!!!!

Well I'm off to bed. Another week down and another week closer to my love! Nighty Night!

Busy weekend

Well I have a lot of catching up to do. Yesterday was a really busy day and I had no time to write. Let me pick up where I left off. Friday the boys and I went out and did a little shopping. First we headed off to get Logan a haircut. He really needed it. He just looks so grown up when his hair is freshly cut. Such the little stud. We ran around to a few other stores and then met up with Cassie to have dinner. Then she came over to watch movies. We started out trying to watch Rachael Getting Married with Anne Hathaway but we just couldn't get into it. After 40 minutes we turned it off and started The Women. I had watched it the night before but Cassie enjoyed it. We hung out for a while and discussed the makeover we are giving Cassie. There is nothing I enjoy more than helping my friends create a new look. It means shopping and playing dress up. Two of my favorite things!!!!

So Saturday we got up and got ready to shop. Cassie and I picked out some great stuff and helping Cassie shop really helped my budget! We were in one store for about two hours and all I bought was a $7 necklace. I was really proud of myself. Cassie did great with her shopping. She found some really cute clothes and shoes. Why is it that new clothes just make you feel so good!!! While we were checking out Logan gathered a group of about 5 women around him...the cosmetic ladies. He was flirting up a storm and talking like he's was so grown. I even asked him if he was flirting and he just looked at me with this big grin and said "yeah!" very matter-of-a-factly. Then went right back to talking to the girls! He was telling all the ladies what his name was and how old he was. Letting them know he was going to the circus. You should have seen him, leaning against the chair like he was Mr. Cool. All the girls though he was the cutest thing ever. I told him his Daddy would be so proud. Ladies watch out...he's already practicing his pick up skills!!!

Next was McDonald's and then off to the circus. Yes, the circus. Surprisingly there was something fun to do in this town. Logan was excited. For some reason he had been telling me all day that I was not allowed to laugh. He said it was ok for him to laugh but not me. I still don't know why. The circus started at 4 so we got there and got settled into our seat. All the kids had these light up swords so of course Logan had to get one. That place was a money trap. $10 for a light up sword and $5 for cotton candy. I mean really! Good thing Lane was too young to want a sword. At first I was a little worried it wasn't going to go well. Logan didn't like the loud music and he just looked a little angry. Lane was not enjoying any of it. But once the circus started Logan was intently watching it and Lane...well he watched it but he just didn't seemed impressed.

This was when we first got there...

I love that little grin! He couldn't take his eyes off the show!!!
He still thought it was to loud... .

This was Lane's expression for most of the show.
He just wasn't impressed!

The circus was a little different than others. Their motto was people entertaining people. So there were no animals. Some parts were a little corny but some of it I really enjoyed. They did an aeriel ballet. I loved it. The girl in the middle was doing all these flips and then she would spin around really really fast. It was very pretty. I wish I could do something like that. It looks fun!
These kids are 12 and 7!

There were five girls just couldn't get them all.
Yes she hula hooped with all these!
Spinning around by just her neck!

Oh sure I can do that...she's holding herself up with mouth!
The show lasted about two hours. On our way out Heather invited Logan to come home with her. So of course he wanted to. Lane and I headed to Walmart with Cassie. We had to make a little detour to Famous Footwear where I found these awesome boots that were on sale. I mean I literally saw these boots and said "wow, those are hot!" They were marked down to from $70 to $20 and they were buy one get one half off. So I grabbed the brown and black ones and got two pair for $30. You just can't beat that! We did a little more shopping then headed home to grab a bite to eat and then head out the door again. Aaron called during this time so I got to tell him about our day. He finds it hilarious when I get all excited about my shopping adventures. I'm so lucky to have a husband who doesn't have a serious problem with my shopping...as long as I don't force him to come along! He was doing good. He's just been really busy and not getting to sleep as much as he should. It's looking like he won't be getting leave until the first of July. Nothing in the Army is ever for sure though. I'm excited. I can start counting down. Plus we will be able to do some stuff while he is here since the weather will be awesome. 24 hours of daylight during that time. I get butterflies in my stomach just thinking about it. I miss him so much!!!!
We headed over to Cassie's house next. I colored her hair golden blond for her. It looks so good. I ended up having to make Logan come home. He didn't want to leave even though he was falling asleep on the couch with I got to Heather's house to pick him up. We didn't get home til 12:00 which is something I never do. I felt bad having the boys out that late but they had a good day and were both give out. They went right to sleep when I put them in bed. It was a fun day.

This morning we got up and got ready for church. Cassie was going to go with me but we just were not sure where we wanted to go. There is a church close to my house that I had been wanting to try so we went there...drove through the parking lot...got stared at like we were crazy by everyone and couldn't find a parking place. So we drove down the road to another church. Of course the kids were being kids. Logan was good for the most part. He remembered to whisper! Lane was fairly good. He would let out a little loud noise every now and then...just making sure everyone knew he was there! Of course Lane pooped his pants and Logan had to go to the bathroom. Never fails. I can't say that I was very happy with this church. The preacher kept "forgetting what he was saying." I just didn't feel like the message was really from God. If they guy can't even remember what he is going to say! Everyone stared at me any time Lane made even the littlest noise. I'm not about to go drop him off in the nursery when I don't even know these people. So what am I suppose to do. Only one person introduce themselves to me so I didn't feel very welcome at all! I just wish I could go to church and feel the spirit move. To feel good when I leave church. I love the way it feels when you go to church and you come out refreshed and feeling so good. The churches around here just don't do that. The people are just rude and don't make you feel welcome. I keep praying that we will find a good church. Cassie and I are going to try again next week. We are going to do a little research and see what we come up with! After church we came home and ate some lunch. Right now the boys are laying down for their nap and I'm about to watch Changeling with Angelina Jolie. I'll let you know how it is!

Girly post

I'm doing this post for all the girlie girls out there that read my blog. And for my cousin Aishlea. She did this on her blog and asked that I do it to. I know Aaron will roll his eyes as he reads this but I think he might see a glimpse of the girl he met! Yes I have to admit that since having kids I have lost myself. I went from the girl who was always dressed to the 9s, always in makeup and had her hair fixed, always in cute shoes with an awesome purse; to a t-shirt and jeans, ponytail with no makeup, diaper bag carrying mom. Now not that there is anything wrong with that if that was really the girl I was. But that's not me at all and over time it's hurt my self esteem. Guess I'm getting brutally honest in this...more than I planned to. But oh well, might as well let it out. I got so caught up in being a mom that I forgot about my jobs as a lady and wife. I love being a mom and I am completely devoted to my children but you can't forget to be the woman that your husband fell in love with and I was becoming the complete opposite of the girl he met. Now that I realize it I feel awful because it's so easy to be a devoted mom and at the same time be a stylish women who loves herself and cares about her appearance. When you don't love yourself its impossible to love those around you who mean the most. I don't care what a woman says, every woman wants to be beautiful and be adored by someone she loves. Aaron has always adored me and I have let him down. He's followed through with his part and I've started taking his love for granted. Not that he would stop loving me for my ponytail and t-shirts...but he has been an amazing husband and I want him to proud of the woman on his arm. So it's my mission now to get myself back. To wear the clothes that make me feel good, to have my hair done, to paint my nails, and wear cute shoes. I want to feel beautiful again...and be the girlie girl I've always been. So Aishlea's post was about the products that she can't live without. Mine will be a little different. I'll show you the products I love and although I can't say I can't live without them (since I have for about the last 4 years!), they are the products that I won't live without anymore. Because they are part of the process that make me the woman I want to be...the woman my amazing husband is proud to call his wife!!!!

Well cleaning your face is essential. I have combination skin meaning that parts are super dry and parts are super oily. I love Clinique products. They are perfect for different types of skin and they are very mild...meaning not lots of harsh chemicals like other product lines...so it's good for your skin. They also have a pore minimizer lotion that does just what it says. Here are a few of my favs:

With makeup I'm pretty open to anything. I have a wide variety of different brands that I like so it's all just a mixture. Cover Girl eye shadows are probably my favorite. I love all the purples and it helps that their prices are really affordable. I have to have mineral makeup for my foundation and powder. It helps minimize your pores and I've noticed mine are getting more and more noticeable over the years. Plus mineral makeup is great for your skin since it's made up of larger particles so it doesn't get stuck in your pores which leads to less breakouts. And there is nothing worse than a 25 almost 26 year old with a zit that pops out when she's getting ready for a formal military ball! A great mascara is also a girlie girls necessity. I'm currently using Maybelline Great Lash mascara but my all time favorite which I need to get is Lancome's Definicils. Both are great mascara so if your on a tight budget go with the Great Lash but if you can splurge a little make sure you try the Lancome.

For hair I'm pretty open to different shampoos. I've notice that my hair does better if I don't stick to one certain type of shampoo so every time I run out I buy a different brand. However, I always use my Infusium 23 leave in conditioner. That has even gone to the beach with me all those years ago when I would go. It's great for moisturizing your hair and keeps the salt water from drying out your hair. (This is a picture of the shampoo which I am currently using but if you try it the leave in conditioner is in a bottle just like this.)

Another product I can't live without with lip stuff. I'm a Carmex fanatic. I always have some with me and if I don't I freak out. Yes, I'm sure you would call this an addiction. There is one that stays in my purse, my pocket at work, Lane's bag, and on the couch where I sit. You just never know when you might need some and for me...that's about every 20-30 minutes. Aaron also jokes (well I guess it's not really a joke) that he can always tell when he's picked up my water bottle by mistake because all he can taste is Carmex. What can I say, I just like to have soft lips and that seems to help me the most!
Another favorite lip gloss of mine is MAC Lip Glass. Now trust me, you should never kiss ANYONE while wearing this! But it makes your lips look like the girls lips in magazines. They become completely flawless. You just put the color of your choice on and then paint on the lip glass and there you go...perfect lips that last all night long...as long as you don't have any kissing planned! This stuff is rather sticky and I know how Aaron hates kissing me when I just put on my Carmex so I can only imagine his reaction if he had this stuff all over him! But he loves my kisses so it's worth it right honey!!!!Basically those are all my essentials. I'm not to picky about brand (for most things)...maybe cause I just haven't found one that can't live without. I'm much more of a clothes person. I just ordered a few new clothes and in my attempt and getting "me" back. I'm still looking for the right shoes. I've been having bad luck because I can't find my size in the ones I like. But here are few of the shirts that I've bought. Now if only this snow would go away things would be perfect. It's virtually impossible to carry kids in the snow while wearing heels. Clumsy me will end up hurting myself and the kids! I did order a new dress to wear when Aaron comes home for R&R. He is going to love it because it's so "me" and something I haven't dressed in in years. That one is a surprise but here are a few of the other ones. I get so excited just talking about all this!!!!
These three came from Body Central. This store is just awesome they have the cutest clothes and great prices. The little jacket I wore yesterday and I just loved it.

These two came from Forever 21. I also ordered some dressed pants from there that are really cute. Again, this is a great store with great prices.

My goal is to start dressing more like a woman and less like a teenager. I want to look classy and sophisticated. I do prefer to shop in a store but up here I don't have many options for stores plus it's hard shopping with two little ones. I've got at least a month or so before I have to have my shoe collection in place. I refuse to wear heels while the snow is still here. And I can't just half way wear an outfit!
I'm a firm believer that you should not have to spend a lot to look good and be happy with yourself. I have learned that somethings are worth splurging for though...like the massage I got last week...but we women should take care of ourselves and when we do that...we are able to take so much better care of the people we love most...our husbands and our kids.
I know this was way different from my usual post but I hope you enjoyed it...I really enjoyed doing it. Maybe there will be more to come! You should try it out and share with me the daily things that you just can't live without!

Checkups

This morning the boys and I got up and just lazed around. Aaron called around mid-morning. He's doing good and staying busy. It was nice to talk to him and just hear his voice. The boys were yelling in the background so he got a taste of the exciting times around the house! After I got off the phone with him I started getting ready for the doctors appointment. I noticed that Logan had been pretty much just sitting on the couch all morning and then around 12:00 I took his temp and he had a fever of 102.8. He said he felt bad and his left eye hurt. Other than that he said he was fine. I gave him some Motrin and before we got to the doctor's office at 2:00 the fever was down. The doctor didn't seemed too concerned about his fever. She checked him out and he's growing just like he should be. He's 40 inches tall and weighs 31.5 lbs. He's just getting so grown up. He was being really complicated at the appointment. He didn't want to cooperate and he didn't want to let the doctor check him out. He was very upset that he was going to have to get shots and all I heard was "I don't want to get a shot!" He was so worked up.

Lane got more xrays on his collarbone. Thankfully it has healed up really well. The collarbone is straight but since it's still healing there is still a knot on top of the break. On the xray it looks kind of like a halo over the break but the doctor said that over time this will go away. So he's released from the sling! He will go back in 3-4 weeks for another set of xrays just to make sure that everything is still good. I've been so happy with this doctor. Unfortunately she is deploying so he will see another doctor at the next appointment. Overall Lane is doing good. He was 29.72 in and weighs 19.5 lbs. She was a little concerned because his weight has gone done a little. But since he has been sick with the pneumonia he's not eaten as much. In the last day or two he has started eating more so I think the weight will go back up soon. She just wants his weight rechecked at the collarbone check up appointment. But after all the eating he did tonight...I don't think that's going to be a problem!

Next we headed to get immunizations. Logan was so worked up and DID NOT want a shot. I've been getting the Hep B & A shots for work and it was time for my second round. So I went first to show him it wasn't that bad. Well he didn't care. He was crying when I put him on the table. I don't think the shots bothered him as much as having to lay there! He did have to have 4 so his little legs are a little sore. As soon as he got up the crying stopped and he was fine. Lane wasn't much better. He started crying when I laid him down too. He only had to have two but he screamed the whole time. But once I picked him up he was fine. I have to admit Logan really pushed my buttons with the way he acted before the shots. He was not listening to me at all and was running his mouth a lot more than I wanted. I am so glad all that is over and I don't have to do anymore shots for a least 6 months! By that time Aaron will be here so he will get to help!!!!

We picked up movies and ice cream afterwards. Logan decided to get a Wii game instead of a movie so when we got home he started to play that. Lane was tired and cranky from the shots but Logan seemed to feel fine. As the night went on he started to get a little clingy. He laid down with me to watch a movie and I noticed he was starting to feel a little warm. My friend Susan whose husband is home on R&R came by for a minute to drop off Aaron's laptop that he had sent home with Marc. Somehow Aaron's gun fell and broke the screen on the laptop. So the computer works, you just can't see what your doing. So now I get to drop that off to be fixed. After telling them bye I walked in the house to find Logan sound asleep on the couch. I felt his head and he was burning up. I took his temp and it was back up. 100.9. And again his only complaint was that his eye hurt. I called the ER to ask them what they thought and of course they said I should bring him in if I was worried but I just had him at the doctor today. Thankfully Aaron called back tonight to see how the boys appointment went and he told me I should just wait and see how he feels tomorrow. It makes me feel so much better to get his opinion on stuff like that. We both feel that he possibly just has a headache but just doesn't understand the difference in eye pain and eye pain behind his eye. I just feel bad for him. He looks so pitiful.

Melting Snow and Relay for Life

Today started off a little different. An unexpected complication with a patient. Nothing life threatening but still it scared me just the same. Tested my "emergency reaction skills." And while I didn't react quite the way I wished I had...I did act accordingly and everything was resolved. I guess that's really all that matters. The rest of the day was pretty ordinary. I did however get to do a Microderm Reginique on a patient. I enjoy doing all our cosmetic procedures and it's nice knowing that you've made the patient's day. My job has provided me with so many opportunities other than oral surgery so it's really nice to have the extra training.

After picking the boys up in 40 degree weather(!!!!) we came home and threw on the snow gear. Lane spent his first evening in the snow and Logan got to play as well. Lane hated wearing the boots and refused to walk in them. He pretty much sat in the snow and rubbed his gloves around in it. This lasted all of about 5 minutes! Then he wanted up and out of all that excessive clothing. He ended up setting next to me in the chair. I kept trying to get Logan to walk out into the "big" snow but he wouldn't. I have to admit I even pushed him a little to try to get him out there...all I got was "Mom, don't do that!" It was so nice to sit out in the sun and feel it's warmth. Even though there was snow there is just something relaxing about feeling the warm sun and breathing fresh air. Here are a few pictures of the boys playing:
Undisturbed snow is kind of pretty...if it wasn't for that whole "cold" factor I would really enjoy it!

These boots were a little big on him but they were the ones Logan wore when we moved here...over two years ago! This was really all he did...he was smacking the snow around a little but didn't like being bundled up at all!
He just checking it all out.
I threw something out in the snow to try to get him to walk out there...He was yelling at me that he was stuck!!!!
Licking a little snow off his fingers!
We came in to eat dinner but we just couldn't give up the sunshine. We opened the blinds and watched the melting snow drip while we ate. It was pretty relaxing!

I also got my Relay for Life page set up so please take a moment to go check it out. If you feel led then please make a donation as we raise money to help fight cancer. So many people have faced this difficult struggle and cancer has touched so many lives. My Grandmother is still fighting the tough fight...but she is winning. I can't wait to hear that she is cancer free! You can also light a Luminaria in honor of, in memory of, or in support of a person you love. If you don't know what the Relay for Life is then please take a moment to read about it. If donating is not an opinion at this time then please look into volunteering at a Relay for Life near you. Thanks so much!!!

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

Well tonight it's a quick word and then off to bed. My eyes are so tired they are burning. But not because I'm over worked...just because I'm really tired for some reason. Work wasn't to bad today. We had one surgery run a lot longer than it was planned to so it really slowed our day down. After getting off work I ran to see where Lane was on the waiting list. I was actually surprise that the ladies who work in there were nice an polite to me. I normally leave there extremely ticked off and ready to call and complain to whoever will listen. I did correct the fact that they had Lane's birthday backwards...his birthday is March 4 and they had April 3. That should make a big difference because now that he's one he will move to a different waiting list. One that moves faster! So with a little luck we should get to start Lane at the same daycare that Logan goes to which will really help me a lot. I will actually be able to have an off day that is just for me!!!!

After picking up Logan I headed to our leasing office. They had called and told me that if I renewed our lease before the end of the month then my rent would go down over $200 so of course I was in there signing away!!! Since we moved in May of last year the new price won't take effect until June 1 but still...I'm not moving ANY more before we leave Alaska so it didn't hurt to renew now! They ended up making me really irritated...long story but one I will be taking care of and they will learn that I am not some stupid ignorant Army wife. I have really felt lately that a lot of people are underestimating me because I look young. When people talk to me they treat me like I'm some 19 year old kid who has no clue what she's talking about and I guess they just assume my husband is some new private. Poor Aaron had to hear my ranting last night so I know I should not bother him with it here but it's really starting to make me really angry. I've never lived in a place where people treated me so rudely. It really bothers me. Stupid people really bother me! Maybe I'm having a hormonal moment...but I have a right to be stressed out...and at least those people are taking the brunt of it and not my kids!!!

Logan wanted KFC tonight so we picked it up and brought it home. Logan and I played Wii for a little while and Lane just played. Logan is getting really good at the baseball games and his hand-eye coordination is getting really good. Which I'm planning to sign him up to play baseball this summer so he'll be a pro by then!

Lane keeps getting a fever on and off. I'm pretty sure it's from his teething but I want to be sure. I called the doctor today but of course they never called me back. He goes to the doctor on Thursday so hopefully then I will find out for sure. He was in a good mood this afternoon. He was up stairs with me while I took a shower and when I got out I asked him where Logan was. He turned around a pointed out the door. He's so smart!

Well I hear a whining little boy, Lane. Hopefully with a little loving he will go back to sleep. I really hope it's not a long night. I'm too tired!

27th Monday since he left...but who's counting!

Today was just another Monday. No exciting things to write about. Just Monday. This morning I dressed Lane in an old outfit of Logan's...all the way down to his shoes! It was one of my favorites that he used to wear. Lane looked so cute and just like his brother!
Other than work and school we picked up Taco King for dinner. Logan swears to me that tomorrow is his birthday. I'm not really sure why but for some reason he's thinks he will be 5 tomorrow. Right now he is looking at his "mail"...junk mail that I told him was for him...it makes him happy...and he's picking out what I should buy him for his 5th birthday...tomorrow! I've tried explaining that it's not his birthday but when I say "you know tomorrow is not your birthday" he says "YES IT IS MOM!" I guess the poor boy will just have to be disappointed tomorrow when there is no cake and presents! Years from now he will be thankful he only has one birthday a year...I'm starting to wish I only had one birthday every two or three years!

Lane was being really cuddly tonight. Then he started feeling like he had a fever. I'm thinking it's from his teeth because he's still on his antibiotic from the pneumonia. I gave him some Motrin and after he slept for a bit on my shoulder the fever came down. I put the boys in the bath then put Lane to bed. Logan is still running around planning his birthday but he's about to head to bed whether he wants to or not and then I'm off to bed myself!

Spring Cleaning???

Our day began with a phone call from Aaron. He had actually called at 8:30 but we were all still soundly sleeping! Shocking I know! Of course to Aaron waking up at 8:30 is just like wasting a whole day in the bed. I mean so much can be done before 8:30 you know!!! Hahaha! Just picking on you! We chatted for a while and he talked with both of the boys. Of course he had to go all to soon.

I then fixed breakfast for all of us and then the boys were off playing. I started going through all the mail that has been piling up for about 6 months. I finally got it all sorted out. I got a card ready to mail my Grandmother and put the camera case I bought my mom in an envelope to send her. Speaking of that...Mom had been saying how she never carried her new camera anywhere because she didn't want to get it scratched so I told her we would look for a case. Well I found one on ebay that is made just for her camera and I won the bid for $.01. Yes I bought my Mom a camera case for a penny!!! I love bargain shopping. Shipping was 3.99 so technically I paid $4 for it. Now I just have to find the time to get to the post office! Wish me luck with that.

When Lane went down for his nap I pulled out the Sunday School lesson I had prepared for Logan. Since I haven't been able to find a church that I was happy with then I figured I would just bring church to our house. I had put together a lesson about "creation." I figured it best to start from the beginning and teach Logan about how God made everything in just 6 days. Well I started the lesson off with some basic questions that I'm sure he's asked me in the past. But hearing his answers were great. Kids are so creative...instead of saying "I don't know," he had an answer for everything. Here are a few:
Q: Why is the sky blue?
A: Because it's colored that way

Q: Where do babies come from? (I was a little scared to ask that one!!!)
A: From the baby store! (He said pretty matter-a-factly)

Q: Why do dogs bark?
A: Because they need to go out to use the bathroom.

I had printed out some coloring sheets that told what God did each day so as he colored I read the Genesis story to him. He was very inquisitive about it all. I would go back every so often and ask what God did on the first day and then the second day and so on. By the end of our lesson he remember what God did all 7 days. He got the first 3 days colored before his attention span ran out but he says he wants to finished the rest tomorrow and then he wants to send them to Daddy. I was really proud of him and we had fun learning about the Bible together.

After all the sorting down stairs I got courageous. I was going to clean the playroom! I did it. I finally got it all organize. I got rid of some toys...something I've been wanting to do for a while. I even convenience Logan that this was the best thing to do. Finally after living here for almost a year I hung up the little mesh holder thing that lets you hang the stuff animals from the ceiling. (I have no idea what that is called!) The room still looks cluttered but for the amount of toys we have with the amount of space there is there is no getting around that. To finish it off I put in the chair that my friend Angela's son gave to Logan. It's this really cute, Logan sized rocking chair. Logan loves it and it's perfect for him to sit in and watch his new TV. And now that the playroom is clean he is more willing to go in there!
Next I went next door and started cleaning out the closets in the boys room. I went through a lot of their clothes the other day but I still had more to do and I had to hang up the new clothes. I had literally saved ALL of Logan's old clothes so Lane has a lot to choose from. But I've noticed that as I have pulled the old clothes out I've not wanted to dress Lane in even half of them. I guess partly because styles have changed a little but mostly because I don't want Lane to be stuck wearing all hand-me-downs. I know that Lane wouldn't care but I strongly believe in making everything equal for the boys. I don't want one to feel he got more or less than the other. So tonight I went through all of the old clothes and picked out my favorites and kept those and got rid of the rest. Believe me though...there are still A LOT left! So now I have 5 HUGE boxes of little boys clothes ranging from sizes 3T down. So if anyone needs some let me know. I tossed the stuff that had stains so it's all really good stuff. You know you really accumulate a lot more stuff than you realize.

At 8:30 on the dot I laid both the boys down and tucked them in bed. Lane was out before I left the room I believe! Logan just called me back up to help him blow his nose but I would bet you he's already out by now too. I'm off to shower and get myself ready for tomorrow. 26 weeks down!!!!!!

Twilight, Fireproof...two GREAT movies!

This morning the boys and I lazed around in the bed. We had no real plans. It always amazes me how those boys will sleep in every morning when I need them to get up and get moving but yet on the days we can sleep late...they are up before the sun. Oh me! After breakfast I put in House Bunny. Angela from work had let me borrow it. It was pretty cute. Then I decided I wanted to go to Walmart and buy Twilight! Yay!!!!!! The movie is finally out and I now own it!!!! Of course a movie is never half as good as the book...but I still will watch the movie over and over! If you haven't read the Twilight series you really need to. You will then understand the obsession...well any female will. Not sure Aaron will ever get it!!! He has already told me I'm not allowed to cheat on him with a fictional character!!! He's knows I'm beyond crazed! Along with Twilight, I bought Fireproof. I've been hearing a lot about it and I wanted to check out.

Well my friend Susan had called me and asked if she could come over and kill some time. Her husband was on his way home for R&R and she was going crazy waiting for his plane to arrive. Can't say that I blame her...I'll be in her shoes in a few months!!!!!! We ended up meeting up at Walmart and she followed us home. We watched Twilight and then she was off to get fixed up for her man. I have to admit I'm kind of jealous...but I know my day is coming soon.

After she left I fixed the boys dinner and then put the boys in the bath. Lane was one little tomato ball! It was all in his hair as well. After that I went through some of Logan's old clothes that I had stashed away. Lane is outgrowing everything so I needed to pull out what would now fit him. I had saved so much stuff. Lane now has a whole new closet full of clothes. What's funny is that the clothes he is now wearing are clothes that Logan could wear when we moved to Alaska. Logan was 2 months short of turning 2 when we got here...Lane is not yet 13 months! Lane is not overweight either...in fact he's always in the 50th percentile...meaning he's average for kids his age...Logan was and still is just a tiny little thing.

After I settled the boys down for bed I turned on Fireproof. I LOVED it. It really made me think and put a lot of things into perspective. I will have to watch it again. I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it. It is definitely a movie to watch with your spouse. Aaron, I really hope you will watch it with me when you get home...and Twilight!!!! Yeah, yeah, I know I'm pushing it!

Well I'm off to bed. Nighty, night!

Halfway to home!!!!!!

I decided to work on Thursday to make up for missing the first two days of the week. Work was pretty slow but of course we got busy at the end of the day. I had to head out before 5 though because Amy had asked me to watch her kids because she had class that night. Amy treated the boys and I with some Taco Bell so once all the kids were there we sat down for dinner. The boys had a good time together and Lane and Abby played together downstairs. After Amy picked the kiddos up I got my two ready for bed. Wednesday night had been a rough night with Lane refusing to go to sleep. He didn't fall asleep until 10:40PM. By that time both Logan and Lane were in the bed with me. Lane was all smiles and making tons of noise. Poor Logan kept telling Lane to be quiet so he could sleep. After Lane finally went to sleep Aaron called. He was enjoying his time at the other FOB. He's getting a little taste of "luxury," if there is such a thing over there. But anyway, back to Thursday night! Lane and Logan both went right to sleep but about an hour later Lane was whimpering. I gave him some pain meds cause I thought he might be hurting but I ended up feeling sorry for him so I put him in bed with me and we both went straight to sleep.

I over slept this morning by a whole hour! Normally I wake up to people talking on the radio but this morning there was only music. I literally jumped out of bed and threw on some clothes. I got the boys up and fed them breakfast really quick. I had physical therapy and I was running way late! I ended up taking Lane with me and took Logan to school. Lane had fun running around and playing with the balls they had there. When that was done we went to Walmart and then Old Navy. Apparently Lane woke up two inches longer because his jeans did not fit. They were way to short and I swear they fit him the last time he wore them!

My neighbored watched Lane for a bit while I went and got a massage! It was the first one I have ever gotten and it was amazing. It was so nice to just lay peacefully and think about nothing! A whole hour to really relax...I loved every second of it. I debated refusing to get up off the table but I figured that wouldn't work out too well!!!!

Lane had an appointment this afternoon to be recheck for the pneumonia. He was doing lots better. He was so tired he slept through his exam! But no wheezing so the doctor feels the meds are doing the job! Yay....things are looking up!!!!

Tonight was our FRG volunteer appreciation potluck. The food was good and they passed out some nice prizes. I won some nice sunglasses! Lane was super cranky. He never got to finish his nap so he wasn't even sure what he wanted to make him happy. On our way home Aaron called. He's getting ready to head back "home." Can't say that I'm to exciting about that. Today does mark the halfway point!!!!!! Finally a huge milestone! At least now we are going down the hill...but I just keep missing him more and more! I can't wait to see him...just a few more months and R&R!!!!!!!

Quick post

I'm going to make this one really quick...or I am going to try. I don't have a lot to write about as it was a pretty uneventful day. The best part of the day was around 5 this morning when Aaron called. There is nothing better than hearing his voice say "good morning" first thing in the morning. Lane was a little restless when he called so he sat up with me and talked to Dad. Aaron was doing a little traveling. He was on his way to a different FOB. Aside from his normal job, he is in charge of making sure all the equipment is packed and ready to be moved anytime they go somewhere. So since we are at the half way point they are now in the planning process of bringing things home. Which sounds exciting to us...but it's really a pain for Aaron. If you know him you know he's not a paperwork kind of guy...and this requires a lot of paperwork but at the same time a lot of dictating...and in the words of Aaron himself..."this is a dictatorship and I'm the Dick!" Yes, you just can't help but love him!!!! But I'm kind of glad cause at least he stuck in classes for the next day or two and not out playing Army!!!

The boys and I were up with our normal routine. Lane was sad when I dropped him off which broke my heart. But he had a good day and so did Logan. Mine was busy for the most part but still good. Logan begged for a Carl's Jr for dinner so that's what we had. Now we are just sitting around. Logan is watching TV and Lane is pulling out all the DVDs from the DVD tower. Oh I love cleaning up the same messes over and over again!

Well I'm off to get stuff together for tomorrow. I'm going to work tomorrow to make up for missing the last two days. I love working at a place that really understands how crazy my life is!!!!

I stayed home with Laner bug again today. Amy came and picked Logan up so that he could go to school and I wouldn't have to get Lane out in this cold, windy weather. Despite not feeling well he still tried to play and enjoy himself. But just take one look at those big brown eyes and you can see that he just doesn't feel good!

Logan came home around 5:00. I had cooked us a nice dinner and even fixed hot tea (one of Logan's favs) to go with it. But as usual Logan didn't eat and Lane didn't eat much of anything all day. Do you have any idea how discouraging it is to cook a big dinner and you be the only one who touches it! Logan and his pickiness is really driving me crazy. I can't get the kid to eat anything other than fish sticks, mac and cheese, and a hot dog once in a while.

I've been having trouble with Logan trying to scare Lane. I understand that is a "brother" thing but when he does it Lane trys to run away from him and ends up falling and hitting either his shoulder or face. So I've been on Logan to stop doing that. Well tonight Logan did it again and sure enough Lane started crying and then tried to run. Well with his arm all bandaged up he falls down and hits his head. So I send Logan to timeout which is normally on the stairs but when he got over there he started playing with a toy. So I told him to scoot back and then I realized he was right in the corner. What better place to have his timeout than in the corner. So I tell him to stand up and put his nose in the corner. I told him I would set the timer to 4 minutes and as long as he didn't get out or talk he would be done with his timeout. I was shocked. It worked!!!! He stood there all 4 minutes without turning around. He did call out once to ask me if his time was up but I just reminded him to listen for the timer. I was really proud and I'm hoping this will work as a new way to punish him. Nothing else I have done seems to be working!

I'm almost too embarassed to post this next picture but it's just to funny not to share. When Logan was done with his timeout I took one look at him and realize he had dust on both sides of his face from where his face was in the corner. I guess I need to dust my walls!!! I mean come on people...who has time to dust the corners of their walls!!!! Poor boy...but hey...he didn't scare his brother anymore tonight!!!!!!
