Since we moved into this house, almost three years ago (wow time flies!), the office has been a junky, unorganized messed for most of it's existence! It has never been a priority room and closing the door was such an easy thing to do. I've decided though that the main reason this room is ignored the way is, is because Aaron and I have such different visions for this room. Aaron uses the office to store his hunting gear and he wants to make it a "MAN room." Most of his gear fits into the closet though. My idea for this room was to house all of his military memorabilia as well our home office. He has a few drawings and a Ranger poster that are pretty special to him. After the first time I clean this room to where you could actually see the floor and the space in the room, I decided it needed a twin size bed for company. We have a guest room downstairs but it would still be nice to have a smaller space for our guest with kids. Especially as our friends and family members have children that are getting too big to sleep with their parents. Aaron agrees with this idea and both like the idea of having a futon so it can be multi-fuctional. That's about all we agree on though. Aaron wants the walls painted OD Green. I'm not completely opposed to this but I'm scared the room will be too dark if all 4 walls are this color. I do want a deep rich color though. So I can bend. I want the room to be relaxing. An inviting room where term papers can be done in a calm environment. I want to enjoy walking into this room.Let me give you a little idea of what we are working with. After cleaning the office yesterday this is what we have. The empty side will house the futon, when I finally get one. It definitely needs blinds and curtains. I just haven't bought curtains because I have no idea what color to get!
The paintings on top of the fax machine are waiting for frames so they can be hung in the boys bathroom. They are so cute. When I was painting the staircase the boys wanted to paint. So they did and their pictures ended up being the perfect colors for their bathroom. And that wooden cross looking thing is a stand Aaron built to hold his Army gear. When it's suited up with everything it makes a nice little decoration piece that I definitely want in this room to compliment the pictures. The 101st flag will come down. Aaron doesn't know it yet (he put it up one day out of the blue) but I want something a little more classy. I want to find a nice 101st painting or picture to put there. Or maybe even frame one of the pictures from the air show to hang there. Now let me show you what Aaron would like to do to the room.
He had the biggest grin on his face when I showed him this. He said it was beautiful! Now for my idea. --> See my dilemma! Maybe the best thing is to give in to his paint color and use my layout. That's compromise right? I'm pretty lucky that my hubby doesn't REALLY care what I do to this room. As long it's not girly looking he will be happy. I love that man!
