This is the front. I assume everyone who hasn't been living under a rock knows what the yellow ribbon means, and the Potter part is pretty self explanatory. The American flag is something that all the guys wear on their uniform meaning they are ready for whatever they are called to do...not sure why it's reversed the way it is...but it is. The "electric strawberry" that we like to call it is the unit patch for the 1-25 Infantry Brigade which is the brigade Aaron is currently in. Now that he has deployed with this brigade he will be authorized to wear this as a combat patch as well...but I doubt he will...more on that later!
This is the back. This patch is for Aaron's combat patch which he is VERY proud of...the reason I don't see him wearing the 1-25th over this one! Aaron deployed twice with the 101st Airborne Division. If you don't know some of the history of the 101st then you should take the time to check it out. Only the best wear this patch! Above that you will notice two small pins. The one on the top is called a Combat Action Badge. Aaron was awarded this during his second deployment...they were not issued during his first deployment...for, well, exactly what the name implies...Combat Action. The one under it is for Aaron's Air Assault Wings. Meaning...he has been trained to jump out and repel down a perfectly good helicopter all the while wearing about 100lbs of Army gear and carrying a gun. As for the red and white ribbon, Aaron is a Cavalry Scout and the Cav colors are red and white. So this is to show support for Aaron's current unit. The pin holding it on is a yellow ribbon but the charm hanging from it is the Blue Star Flag. This flag is only suppose to be used by immediate family of a deployed soldier. (There is also a Gold Star Flag. This is the flag that should only be owned and displayed by the family of a fallen soldier.)And of course this is the inside. I guess I should have taken this picture before I loaded it down but I'm too lazy to empty it out! There are two ACU colored pockets on the inside...just on the other side. I love this purse!!!
