Mother's instinct...

I've always heard that "mother knows best!" And today I found that to be true...even if I'm the mother in question! As you read in my last post I decided to put Lane's arm in a make-shift sling to help him feel better. Well I wanted to make sure that I wasn't causing more damage by restraining his arm so I called a friend of mine who works for an orthopedic doctor here in town. She actually called the Army hospital and had Lane's xrays sent to her so that she could show them to the doctor she works for. (I have some awesome friends!) She calls me right back and says that her doctor said that Lane's arms should ace bandaged to his side with the arm at a 90 degree angle. Well that is exactly what I had done for him! This doctor said that Lane should stay like that for 3 weeks. After seeing what a difference it made in Lane pain wise by using the ace bandage I do plan to follow this doctor's advice.

Tonight two people from the hospital called to let me know that my complaint had been received. They also wanted to thank me for letting them know about the situation and they apologized for what happened. They said that I would be notified of what is decided and what, if any actions are taken. They said the first thing that would happen would be a review of the medical records which will determine if the standard of care of broken. Well since every doctor along with every other person I have talked to about this has said..."did she take an xray..." then I know that yes, the standard of care was broken. So we shall see. I should know something in 10 days or at least get a call and say that the process is still taking place. But they promised to keep me updated with what is going on. I was pretty surprise at how quick they responded and at how apologetic they were. I have a good feeling that I have them on my side!

Well I'm off to bed. I'm so tired. Two nights of no sleep is really getting to me!
